Old news
Metal Slug now downloadable for PS3 and PSP

SNK Playmore has added a whole bunch of downloadable games on Playstation Store, with one of them being Metal Slug, on June 28th.

The catch? It's currently available only in Japan.

It can be played on both Playstation Portable and Playstation 3. Pricing is set at JPY¥600, or approximately USD$5.

Metal Slug Complete for PS2 Korean edition

South Koreans get another goodie. Again.

Activision Korea, which also distributed Metal Slug Complete for PSP, will be distributing the PS2 version.

And, just as the PSP version came with that cellphone charger and tin case, they are throwing in a limited edition bag that will only come with the pre-order copy of the game.

The pre-order duration lasts from May 5th to June 3rd (GMT+9), and everyone who pre-orders their copy will receive the bag. No more bags after that.

And, just as usual, it will go on sale only in South Korea.

Oh, how I love the fact that SNKP is never punctual

Thanks to blindraccoon on our forums for pointing this one out.

For those of you who have been visiting this place for the past six months, you might remember Famitsu announcing that development for Metal Slug ports for Gameboy Advance reached a grinding halt and got tossed into the flaming trash bin. Well, it took over six months for that rumor to be officially confirmed through SNK Playmore USA and not SNK Playmore, not to mention that there is, literally, nothing but this quiet whisper to confirm this game's cancellation.

So, on behalf of many Metal Slug fans who have been eagerly anticipating that this rumor, which has floated around for the past half a year, would turn out to be false, I would like to ask our hard-working ladies and gentlemen over at 564-0051 Osaka Prefecture, Suita City, 14-12 Toyotsu Town, Japan, what the heck have you people been doing for the past six months and then end up announcing the fact that the game's been cancelled as if you were farting inside a tornado?

Metal Slug Mobile 3

After releasing Metal Slug Mobile Impact for cellphones, I-Play has unveiled Metal Slug Mobile 3, which lets you take control of Sergeant Allen O'Neil and fight your way through the enemies. The game features 5 different settings, a total of 13 missions and 3 boss characters. The background story is that an alien invasion of Earth has begun, and Allen must fight against hordes of zombies and aliens to stop the invasion.

A trailer of the game can be downloaded here.

The sprites and visuals are from, you guessed it, Allen's Battle Chronicles, although it is unknown at this state whether or not if Metal Slug Mobile 3 is a copy of Allen's Battle Chronicles, although the interface does look slightly different.

Metal Slug Fighters

A new Metal Slug game for mobile phones has been released, named Metal Slug Fighters.

This is the sequel to the other two Metal Slug mobile games, Metal Slug Suvivors and Metal Slug Soldiers, and will feature two character--a new character named Natalie of the P.F. squad and the other being Ralf. ("We meet again, Dr. Jones.")

Natalie gets 50% more ammunition when she picks up a weapon, while Ralf can do his usual Vulcan Punch to shred his opponents.

Also new in the game is that you will gain control of Slug Flyer, which was not in the two previous games.

As usual, this game is distributed only within Japan.
