November 18th is the day that Metal Slug 7 hits the shelves in America. And, not surprisingly, the United States branch of Ignition Entertainment will be responsible for handling the distribution.

Heck, they even have an entire domain created for promotion of the game... Or, rather, about to, at metalslug7-us.com. The domain is set and operational, but the server is not what I'd exactly call to be responding as of June 20th, 2:30AM EST.


Hey, Ignition, if you are going to tease the fans, at least have some soul. Setting up a domain and not putting anything on it doesn't really give off the correct vibe, y'know.

Also, there is still no word on when the game will be dropped in Europe, as the European branch hasn't announced anything... Yet.

[Update #1: Ignition has set up a temporary page here. I'm not sure if this is only a temporary measure until the domain gets up and running, however, as the domain is still not working as of 4:36PM.]
[Update #2: By the looks of it, Ignition has stopped linking to the preview page altogether from their U.S. site. Clicking on the image of Metal Slug 7 does nothing now. Strangely, they still haven't removed the preview page itself, however. Oh, yeah, and, goooooooood morning, folks. It's 6:17AM EST as I'm writing this. It's nearly been 24 hours!]

Currently available are story, characters, system and gallery sections.

Here's a rough translation of the story written on the site;

Although the Regular Army headquarters and cities surrounding it were thoroughly destroyed after the conflict, quick reconstruction efforts eventually started to remove the hints of destruction, and the area has once again started to become vibrant as before. However, a video is sent out by the Regular Army intelligence headquarters, which contained reports about the growing problem of garbages on an island serving as landfill, and also contained a sudden and short footage of one of Morden's soldiers. The intelligence headquarters declares that this is "undoubtedly one of Morden's troops", and commanders immediately organize and dispatch a team of special forces to verify the existence of Morden's forces on the island and destroy it quickly. Marco, Tarma, Eri and Fio are among the team members, also joined by Ralf and Clark from previous operation. "Hey! It's been a while. I'll make it a zap this time, too!" "It must be some sort of coincidence that we are fighting on the same battlefield again." "Listen up, our opponent is Morden himself. Find any means necessary and annihilate the enemy as quickly as possible!" The team then heads out to the landfill island where Morden's troops are suspected of hiding in.

So, yeah, the official homepage for Metal Slug Zero (Also known as Metal Slug 0nline. Cliche.) opened on June 5th. Be aware that the site is ridiculously heavy on Flash, not to mention the fact that the server that the site is hosted on seems to suffer major bottleneck when trying to connect from outside of Korea. Of course, the recommended resolution for viewing the site doesn't really help, either, as its 1280x1024 simply screams for scrollbars on any screen resolution lower than that.

The site offers several things, from promotional event that they are having for the game (Which will net three people with Metal Award with Nintendo Wii and Metal Slug Complete -- ten people with Slug Award with Abercrombie t-shirts -- and 25 people with Zero Award with Metal Slug Complete for Nintendo Wii.) It also offers the notice board and community board, which isn't all that active at the moment.

Also offered is the character introduction page, (Nothing new to see here.) series introduction page (Again, nothing new here.) and downloads page. The download page offers four different wallpapers for people to grab, as well as single selected tracks from each of the soundtrack albums from the Metal Slug Complete Sound Box. (Fun tip: the CD scan images, as well as the tracks themselves, are taken from MSDB. You can notice this when you compare the angles that the discs are scanned in (Take a look at the ones that they have on display and then go see the ones in the soundtracks section on this site and you will know what I mean. They are all slanted, because I'm such a lazy git and couldn't bother to correct this before hitting the scan button for my all-in-one.) as well as taking a look at the ID3 tags of the tracks themselves, which will reveal this site's address in the comments box. (Am I mad? Heck, no, considering the fact that people do know about this place's existence, although it's kinda depressing how the same people DGARA about it.)

SNK Playmore has made an announcement on the 15th that it will released the official trailer for Metal Slug 7 at 7:00PM (GMT+9) on May 16th. The bad news is that the video is being distributed through the ShowTime portal, which has rather an annoying history of blocking out anyone browsing using foreign ISP from using some of its services. The good news, however, is that it didn't take long for me to figure out a backdoor and grab the video. And since the MSDB has bandwidth to burn now, I will now be posting videos in streaming format via Flash with embed code publicly available so that you can link to the videos on other boards, blogs, etc.


It's hilarious that whoever made this trailer mixed up the footages of Eri and Fio. Anyways, the scenes showing the Slug Truck and Slug Gigant really take the cake here. Otherwise, the rest are things that you should know about, if you have been visiting this site consistently.
