Old news
New garage kits

Hey, kids, guess what; Wonder Festival 2008 Summer was held on August 3rd.

Guess what's even better; the modeler Alchemist showed up again, with his previous Metal Slug-related garage kits as well as a new addition to his cupboard -- the Black Hound.

I mean, just how CUTE is that thing?

Among his previous works include the Metal Slug, Melty Honey and Rumi Aikawa.

Forum and trailer for U.S. Metal Slug 7 up

The forum for Ignition USA's Metal Slug 7 site is open, although the categories and sections do not seem to have been created yet.
[Update #1: The press section has also been opened.]
[Update #2: Several more sections have been opened, including series, packaging, music, ringtones and wallpapers.]

Also, the site itself has been updated with the trailer of the U.S. release. You can watch it over at the official site or stream it from below;

The sound effects used in the trailer are, obviously, not from the game itself.

Metal Slug 7's official site for North America finally opens

And it's about time, too.

But before you get too happy, let me just point out that the page is still under construction, with a lot of the sections still incomplete. So far, only the characters and screenshots sections are complete. But, hey, there's still several months to cover until November. Just maybe they might finish building the site by then.

The really interesting thing is the forum that they have planned, which isn't open yet, but nevertheless interesting enough to see how it will turn out. (And, for the love of God, let's hope that it won't attract idiots from everywhere.) They also plan to have a whole bunch of other stuff being prepared, such as soundtrack downloads and illustration gallery.

I believe it's quite safe to say that Ignition Entertainment USA has shown more effort in building their site than SNK Playmore did. Shame on you, SNKP. Shame on you.
[Update: Nevermind on what I said about Ignition building a better site. I've just noticed that Ignition hired a third-party site designer to do the work. That's called cheating.]

By the way, look at Fio's name in the character section.

I think that's hilarious.
[Update: The typo's fixed.]

Metal Slug 7 for NDS heading to Europe

Ignition Entertainment's European branch made has a press release about Metal Slug 7's eventual release in Europe. No date for the European release is given yet.

Metal Slug 7 To Explode Onto The Nintendo DS
The Original 'Run and Gun' Returns

22nd July '08

SNK PLAYMORE and Ignition Entertainment are pleased to announce the upcoming European release of Metal Slug 7 for Nintendo DS.

This title marks the debut of this highly regarded franchise onto the Nintendo DS, and will deliver the fast paced and frantic 'run and gun' action that is associated with the series that has recently enjoyed its' 10 th anniversary.

The battle scars from the previous war against General Morden had started to fade and the reconstruction of the cities and the army was well underway. The people had started to feel safe again, but when a mysterious figure is spotted on a routine scouting of Garbage Island it seems that this war is far from over.

Join Marco, Fio, Tarma, Eri, along with Ralf and Clark (returning fresh from some fighting tournament you maybe familiar with) and get ready to once again take on the forces of General Morden.

Spanning 7 new missions, 6 playable characters and a host of new weapons and features Metal Slug 7 continues the standards of the titles before it. Oh, and there is the introduction of the biggest and baddest SLUG vehicle to date...

'With a Metal Slug game you know that you're going to have a hugely enjoyable experience' Says Peter Rollinson, Product Manager, Ignition Entertainment 'The latest addition to this great franchise will continue that trend'.

Metal Slug 7 will be available Autumn '08 for the Nintendo DS

Speaking of which, the website for the U.S. version is still not up, so I won't hold my breath over the European one for opening any time soon, either. Just letting you all know.
