Here's an interesting piece of news;



SNK Playmore has announced that a new Metal Slug mobile game will be released in two different parts. The game is called "Metal Slug: Allen's Battle Chronicles", which gives us a strange hint that we will be playing as Allen O'Neil in this game.

Anyways, the game will be, as I've already mentioned above, divided into two parts. The first part will be released on December 2005, while the second part will be released on February 2006.

Not much details regarding this game other than the release date and the availability for i-mode was announced. For more info, visit the SNK Playmore's press release page.

The production of original Playstation 2 version of Metal Slug 4 has been ceased. And starting on November 23rd, SNK Playmore will distribute its Playstation 2 version of Metal Slug 4 as "SNK Playmore Best Collection", which is just a re-release version of the game at cheaper price.

This will officially mark the original (Japanese) copies of Metal Slug 4 for PS2 as a collector's item, as it is no longer on sale.

The original copies floated around for 7,140 yens, while the re-release version will be priced at a fraction of it; 2,940 yens.

Matt Ackeret has informed me that Amazon.com is currently taking pre-orders for Metal Slug 1 for Nintendo's Gameboy Advance. It says the game will be available on February 15th, 2006.

Still no screenshots from the actual game. Don't let the TGS screenies or trailers fool you into thinking that those are from the GBA version. They are not screenshots taken from the GBA version, as their resolution is too high for a GBA to handle.

Although the page was there dating few months back, Ignition Entertainment has not officially made it public until very recently. (Heck, I even had the page saved and ready to be archived for three months now.)

[Edit: It is indeed an unlicensed franchise. Notice how it says "METUL SLUG" in the title, with letter U instead of A? That's how the Chinese get past the copyrights; intentionally misspell a letter within the title or logo. They did this to Samsung's new cellphone models by putting down "SAMSUMG". And this trick works too, because most people in China are English illiterate and can not quickly figure out the difference between the letters N and M.]
