SNK Playmore of USA has released a press release regarding the upcoming Metal Slug series pack for the PSP.

This is what we all have been waiting for; Metal Slug 6 ported to a home console.

And just as I predicted, it will be ported to Sony's Playstation 2.

Release date is set for June 29th, 2006. The price will be 7,140 yen.

[EDIT: I'm suspecting that this has been mistaken with the title Metal Slug Evolution, as it is too early for Metal Slug 6 port to a home console and the fact that Metal Slug Evolution release date coincides with the date June 29th.]

Gamespot has a preview of it.

"SAN JOSE, Calif.--To kick off the second full day of GDC conferences, we were able to sit down with SNK and get our hands on a playable version of Metal Slug for the Game Boy Advance. The Metal Slug series, which was popularized in the arcades and on the NeoGeo in the late '90s has been ported several times in recent years to systems like the Xbox and the PlayStation 2.
