Old news
Oh, hey, Metal Slug XX went on sale very early in Hong Kong

Never mind what I said two articles down about how there was no news about Metal Slug XX being released in Asian countries other than Japan and Korea. Metal Slug XX was released on December 9th in Hong Kong.

Korea got its release on the 11th, with Japan getting the short end of the stick with 23rd. The Western Hemisphere, on the other hand, isn't even getting anything.

Metal Slug XX also heading to Xbox LIVE

Rewind back more than a year and we had SNK Playmore planning the release of Metal Slug 7 on Xbox LIVE in Q1 of 2009. Despite the demonstration of the working game during TGS2k9, the plan never came through.

SNK Playmore just made an announcement that Metal Slug XX will see release on Xbox LIVE following the release on Sony's PSP. No exact date has been mentioned, but it is estimated that it will be out by Q1 of 2010. No pricing information is available as well.

Koreans to get early break for Metal Slug XX

WBA Interactive is planning to release Metal Slug XX in South Korea on December 11th. That's twelve days earlier than the Japanese release date of December 23rd.

Maybe it's a logistics issue, considering how half of pre-orders in Japan are supposed to come with prisoners' underpants. WBA Interactive isn't going with this promotion, so that could be a reason. Or it could be the fact that WBA Interactive wants to take advantage of the holiday season and get as many copies sold by Christmas.

Unfortunately for the rest of us, there is absolutely no mention of further releases anywhere else. There is no announced plan of release in other parts of Asia, Europe and Americas; SNK Playmore's Hong Kong-based distributer and Ignition Entertainment are very silent about the upcoming release. Well, that's nothing to be very surprised about considering the misfortunes surrounding the original Metal Slug 7 for Nintendo DS, which had its ROM dumped more than a full week before the actual release date, as well as mediocre sales. Thankfully, PSP isn't region locked, so as long as you don't mind paying for ludicrious shipping fees to get the game imported, there won't be many problems trying to play the game, provided that you can navigate through the game's UI in Japanese.

Metal Slug Zero homepage closed

Despite DragonFly's insistence that everything was going smoothly, things have come to the point where the company decided to shitcan the official homepage.

Due to indecision on when the game will be released, as well as inability to properly maintain and service the homepage to create a more dynamic environment, the teaser site will close its doors from December 21st.

We will post further notices and information regarding Metal Slug on web magazines and news articles, and new homepage will be opened when the game becomes available.

We apologize to everyone who have been waiting eagerly and promise that the game will certainly not disappoint.

Thank you.

Metal Slug Tactics demo available

SNK Playmore has made the demo version of Metal Slug Tactics, an Advance War-type turn-based strategy game, available on i-mode for free of charge.

But only in Japan.

Not to mention the fact that the actual game came out in March, which is, like, eight months ago.
